As I sit down to write about this amazing couple and their New Years wedding celebration, the snow is peacefully floating down outside of my office window. The world has slowed down and, for the time being, the hustle and bustle of life has temporarily gone away. It’s fitting, because what I’m seeing right now reminded me a lot of Alex and Zach’s wedding day!
I go back and laugh at the conversations Alex and I had with each other about the weather. Temperatures were forecast to hover just above zero with wind chills of -10! I remember Alex still wanting those outdoor photos for her wedding day, no matter what Mother Nature would throw at us. And of course, I was all for it as well!
Finally, the wedding had arrived on the waning hours of 2017, and I was so excited to be a part of not only the biggest day of Alex & Zach’s lives, but also to be surrounded by people that love them to welcome in a brand new year! I know a new year is technically just a flip of a page on a calendar, but I feel that it’s also a chance for new beginnings, and to start fresh. And in this case, the start of a beautiful marriage.
Alex looked absolutely stunning in her wedding gown, and her genuine smile and relaxed demeanor on that special day could have made even the most nervous person in the entire world at ease. Zach, the gentleman that he is, was as dapper and just genuinely kind as he was the day we first met for their engagement session – he offered to carry my heavy camera bag, how sweet!
Then there was the bridal party who literally braved the frigid cold for their soon-to-be-married friends. I mean, guys, it was cold enough for my shutter trigger finger to start to lock up THROUGH GLOVES, but the ladies, wearing strapless dresses, hardly complained at all and the guys remained all smiles supporting their leading guy – talk about dedication!
Alex and Zach’s wedding at The Course at Glen Mills in West Chester, PA was beautifully decorated and the snow on the ground just made the entire world a winter wonderland. The clouds even broke at sunset, so Alex & Zach jumped at the chance to go back out into the tundra to capture those romantic portraits as the last minutes of 2017 daylight came to a close.
Then the party cranked up as we counted down to, and welcomed in, the new year with the amazing new married couple!
Alex & Zach – Words can’t describe how much fun I had getting to know you both throughout this process. You both are amazing people inside and out, and perfect for each other in every way. Thank you for letting me capture your amazing day and welcome the new year in style! <3
